The Faculty of Computer Science, Electronics and Telecommunications provides teaching and research in the field of computer science, electronics and telecommunications according to world standards. It combines the potential of three 30-year-old departments – Department of Computer Science, Department of Electronics, and Department of Telecommunications – with their outstanding research and teaching staff.
The development strategy of the Faculty includes priority areas: information society technologies, cloud computing technologies, high-speed optical networks, global wireless communications, Internet of Future, Internet of Things and sustainable development, including embedded systems in consumer electronics, industrial electronics, renewable energy, nanotechnology and sensor technology.
Adapting the curriculum to the needs of modern industry while maintaining high standards of teaching results in IET graduates forming the basis of the engineering staff employed in multinational corporations in Krakow, including Google, IBM, Cisco, Motorola, Delphi, and COMARCH.
Major research areas of the Faculty of Computer Science, Electronics and Telecommunications, matching the tasks in the proposal, include:
- Intelligent monitoring and information exchange systems for security of citizens
- Security in telecommunication and computer systems (security architectures and protocols for wireless, cellular and mesh systems, intrusion detection and mitigation, identity management, quantum cryptography)
- Technology of operating agents in local- and wide-area computer networks.
